About us

We are a movement of young people in Sierra Leone who want our voice heard on the subject of FGM in our communities.

The Youth Led Movement (YLM) is a collective of young people advocating for other young people, the movement was born as a consequence of the many ills that affect the lives of the youth in our country. Every issue that has a potential impact on the collective which constitute the demographic of youth is our greatest concern, and we are compelled by duty to address such situations and circumstances.

We envision a world where girls and women have the human right of a life free from violence - where gender based violence does not determine our belonging. We believe that this can be done in one generation, and that our generation is the one to do it.

We are active in our communities, through our organizations, in our workplaces and our schools, engaging people in hard conversations around a practice that is highly politicized and not given space for discussion. We aiming to bring about a youth revolution to shift the discourse and change policies to end FGM in our country.
